Oh how time flies, LHMedia had the opportunity to catch up with Yummy last week Saturday, September 5, at her first, very own show. “An Intimate Night with Yummy.” The night was part of a fundraiser to raise funds towards building Yummy her a little place she can call home. The event was hosted at Utopia Cafe and Lounge and catered for a maximum of 50 guests, to ensure the Covid-19 group limits were adhere to.

Despite the wet and cold weather Yummy was in high sprits and she delivered a spectacular performance. When asked how she felt she replied that although she was nervous, she was also excited to be onstage and share her talents. Yummy’s life has changed drastically in short space of time, she went from being on the streets for over ten years, to having a new life filled with love and support from her family and the greater community of Cape Town.

She was asked to share her experience with her fans and Yummy had the following to say. She again expressed how much her life had changed. She is particularly in awe of her families delighted at having her back home. She finds them to be extremely supportive of her. They are ready to walk this journey with her and go out of their way to ensure that she is okay and happy and for this she is extremely grateful.

She expressed her fears as well, as no journey is easy and the changes although good, can be overwhelming at times. Yet her biggest and best experience thus far, small though it was, was having the opportunity to host her very own show. She absolutely loves being able to just be herself and to perform in front of a live audience.

She wants to encourage those who find themselves in a difficult place to never forget where you come from; to always remain positive that things can and will change. The difficulties aren’t forever, all you need to do is to take that first step and reach out to others for help, as you are the only one who can take the first step.

Yummy wants to leave these following words with her fans and followers: “Never forget your roots and have faith in yourself, through this you will see how God comes through for you, just like he came through for me. My journey has been a long and dark one, but I persevered and found the light at the end of the tunnel. Believe in the higher power called our Father, who may not be alive in flesh and blood, but rather in spirit. What he has done for me, he can do for you as well.

Just Believe in yourself.”
