February also known as the month of Love. A time when people all over the world declare their love for each other. Cape Townians are no different when it comes celebrating Valentine’s day. This year however the people of Cape Town got a very special treat, as Robin Pieters dedicated not one but three days to love, 14, 17, and 18 February. Robin partnered with Son Koerant and shared his wish to help Royal Kidz, an NGO to which he is the ambassador, to collect much needed shoes for thousands of children across Cape Town, who do not have shoes for school.

Now, we know that no man is an island, even one as talented as Robin. He needed help and he approached three very independent, very talented songstresses and invited them to join him on stage. These ladies didn’t hesitate to join Robin and help him spread the love. They are his long-time Friend, Mentor and Mama, Karin Kortjie, his friends and co-artists,  Elwira Standili, with whom he had shared a stage on numerous occasions and Sasha- Lee Davids, the co-winner of Idols SA 2009.

Robin Pieters and these Three Power House Diva’s promised to entertain Cape Town and they delivered, as they wowed the audiences on each of those three nights. Sharing the love and resulting in not just the audience, but Robin, Karin, Sasha and Elwira to shed a few tears on stage.

Kelly Baron and her team from Son Koerant, also delivered, they ensured that there were school shoes available for audience members to purchase and donate to Royal Kidz for the children they support. The Son Koerant also committed to purchasing a minimum of 1000 pairs of shoes and they encouraged to audience to add to what they had purchased, by having their donation on display at the show each night.

Royal Kidz Director, Danolene Johanessen was present at each show to support Robin and to receive the shoes that people donated.  This also gave her an opportunity to engage with the audience and inform them of the work that Royal Kidz does.

“Restoring the dignity of the child, by providing them with a new pair of school shoes.” The love was shared and felt by all. “It Was A Thing, After All.”
