Meet Todd Chippendale: AKA ‘Blckkidd’.

“The name Blckkidd has nothing to do with the colour of my skin. I use to be so depressed that everything around me seemed dark, from the place inside my mind to the actual world around me, only I could find my way out.”

This is the source of his name. He used his depression to reinvent himself and turned it onto a Business. Who exactly is Blckkidd and what does he do? Todd is a young man in his twenties, living in GoodWood. Being depressed and unemployed, as a young person did not paint a very bright future. The world had great expectation from him, after all he is one of many of the first generation of born free’s of South Africa.

Creating the name Blckkidd gave him an identity and this intern helped him forge his passion for art. He spent many hours in his room with his artwork and created a little following for his work. Which he would transfer onto T-shirts, but this was not enough for him. He wanted, needed more. Driven by his creativity he started his own, one man music production company, in the confines of his bedroom and with the support of his friends word spread and more and more people approached him to produce music for them.

Four years down the line and he has created his home studio in a spare room at home. Working most nights to earn a steady income. He spends most of his waking hours producing music for young, hip upcoming artists. His genre of music includes: Trap, Rap and Hip-Hop and his services include: creating beats, producing, mixing and the mastering of music.

For those who are familiar with the following artists, they were produced by Blckkidd, He has worked with J’Blunt, Self cnxbxb, L Jay, Emo Ebdn, Xbb and Cons$ciou$ and the demand for his services grows daily.
